Next to the FA Cup the English competition also has a second football competition, the Football League Cup. This Cup starts with 92 (20 clubs from the Premier League and 72 from the Football League) clubs from Wales and England, whereas in the FA Cup 758 clubs enter the competition.
The League Cup was founded in 1960 and since Liverpool is the record holder with 8 wins. They are also the current (2012) champions. The winner of the League Cup gets to play in the Europa League the following year, unless they already qualify for the Champions League through a high end position in the regular competition that is the Premier League. In that case the runner up will play in the Europa League. Although the League Cup is perceived as a lower achievement than winning the FA Cup or Football League by many teams, eventually the matches that are made are between some of Europe's top clubs, as the English Competition has a very high quality. The later stages of the League Cup will have a live stream as it is to be expected that only clubs from the higher divisions, The Premier League and the Championship will survive in this knockout format.
The League Cup is often used by the Top teams such as Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal to give young and upcoming players playtime against decent opponents. Therefore the League cup is seen as an important trainings stage by famous trainers Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger. So since a few years the League Cup has showered off its dusty image and advertises with these fresh and young prospects. They obviously can be seen playing amongst top players as Balotelli and Van Persie in the later stages of the League Cup, of which most matches have a football live stream for free.
The League Cup has seven rounds, such that only 32 of the 92 teams remain in the third round. Only teams from the Premier League and the Football League are eligible for the League Cup and the matches on the live stream. Moreover teams that also play in the European Leagues have a bye until the third round. As of 2012 a new sponsor has been attracted for the League Cup. Capitol One, a company specialised in Credit Cards and other loans.
The League Cup usually finished rather early during the season, so make sure to check back soon fot live football streams of the 2012-2013 League Cup!
