Tottenham Hotpsur F.C. is one of the many professional football clubs from England's capital London, playing in the Premier League. The football club was founded in 1882 as Hotspur F.C and are often called the Spurs. Tottenham play their home matches in White Heart Lane, a stadium that holds a capacity of over 36,000 seats. The club colours are white and dark-blue. Matches at home are played in an all white kit, whereas away meetings are played in the dark-blue kit. The club is chaired by Daniel Levy, who has been in charge of the Spurs since 2001. he is also the managing director of the owner of Tottenham, ENIC International. Current manager is Andre Villas-Boas, who unlike many other top trainers, has not had a professional football career.
Altough the competition in the English Premier League is super tough and Tottenham isn't such a top club as Manchester United or Chelsea, they still have some domestic and international highlights. The Spurs have won the Premier League (formerly known as First Division) twice, albeit it was a long time ago, namely in 1951 and 1961. The national Cup, world famous FA Cup was won eight times, the last time being in 1991. The most recent domestic performance is the 2008 League Cup win, which is lower rated than the FA Cup, but still has some appeal. In Europe, Tottanham Hotspurs have won two Cups, the UEFA Cup in 1972 and 1984 and the now defunct Cup winners' Cup in 1963.
Notable Spurs players of today's team are Belgian Mousa Dembele, who has also played for Fulham when he left AZ in the Netherlands, captain Michael Dawson, a true Spur, as he has been playing for the club since 2005, making him the longest associated player of Spurs in today's squad and Emmanuel Adebayor, former player of Real Madrid, Manchester City and Arsenal. He was acquired from Manchester City after having been on loan in 2011-2012. Former notable players are Germans Steffen Freund and Jurgen Klinsmann and Ireland's Robbie Keane.
The Spurs have a longitudinal rivalry with the other top club from North-London Arsenal. Their derby is called North London Derby. So far it has been played 173 times, of which Arsenal won 73 times and Spurs won 53 times, whereas the game was drawn 47 times. The North London Derby has been played for over 100 years, the first one being in 1909. When Spurs Arsenal is on, make sure to watch it through the football live stream of Unibet tv.
