Paris Saint Germain is a French football club who play in the first French Division Ligue 1. Paris Saint Germain, in short PSG, was founded in 1970, which is very recent for a top club (clubs like Barcelona, Real and Manchester United were founded in early 1900's or late 1800's). This is due to a fusion between Paris FC and Stade Saint-Germain. Currently PSG is trained by Carlo Ancelotti and they play in the Parc des Princes stadium which has a capacity of 48,000 seats. Since 2012, PSG is owned by Qatar Investment Authority and thus the chairman is an Qatari businessman named Nasser Al-Khelaifi. When at home PSG play in both blue shirts, shorts and socks, when away, they play in a complete red outfit.
Although PSG was founded in 1970, they have a decent record of Ligue Cups and European titles. Paris Saint Germain have won the Ligue 1. Cup twice, in 1986 and 1994 and were the runner up seven times. Furthermore they won the Coup de France eight times, the last time in 2010. On European level, PSG won the defunct UEFA Cup winners'Cup in 1996. This may not be as impressive as records of say Barca or Real Madrid, yet keep in mind PSG was only founded in 1970.
Also since the complete ownership of Qatar Investment Authority, PSG has attracted some European top live football players. To name a few: Lucas Moura from Sao Paulo, Pastore from Palermo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic from AC Milan. In total PSG have invested 257 million Euro's in the acquisition of top players since 2011. Whether this will lead to a third championship of ligue 1., future will tell..
Just Like Spain has its El Clasico, France has a national rivalry as well. This “Le Classique” is a match between PSG and Olympique de Marseille. This match was promoted in the late 80's, early 90's as the most serious confrontation of France, a rather innocent rivalry to create some hype between the two clubs from the two largest cities in France.
