F.C. Porto is a Portuguese top club from Porto that plays in the Primeira Liga, the highest division of Portugal. The football club was founded in 1893 as Foot-Ball Club do Porto. The stadium is called Estadio do Dragao (stadium of the dragon) and has a capacity of 50,000 seats. F.C. Porto's colours are white and blue, but they play their away matches in an all puprle outfit. The manager of Porto is Vitor Pereira, who contrary to many top coaches of today did not play professionally. He has been the coach of Porto since 2011. The chairman/president of the club is Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa, a Portuguese businessman.

FC Porto has been the most accomplished club of Portugal as they have won the Primeira Liga 26 times. Since 2003 no other club has won the Primeira Liga, making it eight in a row for the club. Also the Portuguese Cup was won 16 times of which 5 times in the past decade, thus taking the double as many times. FC Porto have won the Champions League twice, in 1987 and remarkably, in 2004, a time in which larger clubs like Barca, Manchester United and Real Madrid dominated the European competitions. In the past few years Porto has been successful in the Europa League, winning it twice in less than ten years: 2003 and 2011. The most famous person from Porto is probably not a player, but top trainer Jose Mourinho who trained Porto from 2002 till 2004 when he left for Chelsea.

However Porto has had some notable players in the past, such as Mario Jardel and Fernando Gomes, who both won the Golden boot, in 1999 and 1983, 1985 respectively. As of today notable players are Maicon, Kelvin and Marat Izmaylov. FC Porto have two main rivals who usually are in the mix for the championship. Both matches against Sporting CP and SL Benfica are highky anticipated and very important for winning the Primeira Liga as points count for double. FC Porto Benfica and Sporting are called the Big three (Tres Grandes).
